DescriptionThis position will be required to work flexible rotating shifts. Shifts will vary and could be 1st (7:30am-4pm), 2nd (3:30pm-Midnight), 3rd (11:30pm- 8am), or a combination of any of these. Apprentices need to be open to working all three shifts upon completion of the program. Overtime participation will be expected.

Summary:
Those selected for Hallmark's Maintenance Apprenticeship program will work with mentors in their facility's maintenance department to learn how to operate, troubleshoot, repair, and do preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment. The maintenance apprentice will learn to work on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and PLC driven equipment. Apprentices will also learn how to order parts and track their labor time spent on a problem. In addition to hands on learning, maintenance apprentices will attend classes at Peaslee Technical Training Center in Lawrence, KS. Apprentices will be paid for time in class, and class times will vary, based on a rotating schedule.

Once selected, apprentices will need to have the ability to obtain an equipment license and pass a color perception test and have the ability to distinguish between electrical wire colors. Apprentices will have 2 opportunities to take and pass placement tests in English, math and reading. If an Apprentice does not pass these tests they will be returned to their prior position. After that time, the Apprentice's prior job will no longer be available to them and they will have to apply for and accept another position within 90 days.

SPECIFIC BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • State driver's license in good standing
  • Experience working with search engines such as Bing, Google, etc.
  • Ability to constantly stand, squat and walk.
  • Ability to constantly lift up to 30lbs, Lift up to 50lbs frequently, and lift up to 75lbs on occasion.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Has performed preventive maintenance and repairs on industrial, agricultural, aircraft, or military equipment.
    • Has taken classes in industrial maintenance at a community and /or technical college, such as Electronics, Robotics, Electro-mechanical or completion of the following courses: Electrical Motor Controls I and II, Programmable Logic Controllers, Advanced Programmable Logic Controllers, Welding I, Variable Speed Drives and Controllers and Machine Tool Workshop.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all employees.
