  • Responsible for day to day production goals - maintain or exceed 4.25" of through-put on projects.
  • Takes direction on priorities, process's and work flows.
  • Manages and plans work for tight deadlines and high production environment.
  • Supervises up to 30 people and controls workflows on shop floor for a minimum of 8 hours per day:
    • Ensures personnel on shop floor are working on priority fabrication.
    • Adjusts shop manpower to keep fabrication moving productively.
    • Participates in job development training to build the required skills for shop personnel and equipment operations.
    • Coaching and mentoring direct reports and promoting their professional growth by providing clear expectations; timely, meaningful feedback (to include periodic formal performance appraisals); and, as appropriate, recognition, redirection, or positive discipline.
    • Leads with feet. Is on the floor observing all phases of operations.
    • Instills a culture of "How can we do this better, faster and more efficient."
    • Helps shop personnel as needed.
    • Teamwork - Continuously communicates and coordinates with shop personnel, other departments, and vendors. Establishes good working relationships. Provides timely, accurate information.
      • With Shop Manager to ensure that scheduled delivery dates are being met.
      • With Pipe Shop Material Expediter to keep material organized and staged for production.
      • With QC to maintain high quality goals.
      • With fabrication team on assigned work.
      • Regularly reports to work on time, dependable.
      • Maintains a safe and clean shop environment.
      • Ensures shop equipment preventative maintenance is being performed timely and appropriately.
      • Reviews shop daily timecards to ensure all jobs listed are correct and accurate.
      • Makes sure shop is locked up at the end of the day. -Position Requirements:
        • You must be a current member in good standing with a KS/MO local union to which we are signatory: 441, 533, 8, or 45. -
        • Able and willing to work overtime if required.
        • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
        • Experience required: At least 5 years of construction piping and welding hands-on field trade -experience.
        • Must be proficient in basic math skills: additions, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals.
        • Possess working knowledge of blueprints and submittal information as well as sequencing aspects.
        • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a urinalysis drug screen. -Physical Requirements:
          • Physical ability to perform manual work for at least 8 hours per day in all weather and temperature environments.
          • Ability to work in cramped positions.
          • Good hand-eye coordination
          • Good sense of balance, maintain equilibrium on uneven surfaces.
          • Good physical fitness and agility.
          • Lifting and carrying: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
          • Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.
          • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
          • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
          • Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
          • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
          • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
          • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
          • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
          • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
          • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
          • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
          • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
          • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound.
          • Smelling: Perceiving or detecting the odor or scent of something. Ability to detect the odor or scent of something and make fine distinctions in smell.
          • Extent Flexibility: Bending, stretching, twisting, or reaching with your body, arms, and/or legs.
          • Finger Dexterity: Making precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
          • Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
          • Visual Acuity: - Good visual acuity is required including but not limited to various distances: near detail work and far; various light conditions: night or in dim light, in daylight or bright light, under glare or poor contrast; to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, distinguishing colors, shapes, patterns depth perception and peripheral vision.
          • WORKING CONDITIONS: -Workers are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as steal toed work boots, hardhats, safety glasses, work gloves, safety vests, protective suits, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, fall protection and other devices to protect their eyes, respiratory system, hearing or physical safety. Workers must be especially alert to safely follow procedures and must deal with a variety of hazards. - Workers are subject to the following environments: inside areas with uncontrolled temperatures; outside areas with extreme heat, cold and weather conditions; loud noise; various physical hazards; exposure to various harmful materials/chemicals/dusts/poor ventilation.
