The role of Cleaner Supervisor is pivotal for Housekeeping Unlimited (HKU) as it directly affects the quality of cleaning our customers receive and the quality of the cleaners we employ. This job description is not limited to the details below and is subject to change at the discretion of the supervisor and manager. Anticipate regular reviews and updates. Training Cleaners Training new and current cleaners ensures that cleaners have the skills and knowledge to clean for HKU. Employees will have initial training documentation on file in their Employee Record from new hire training. Documentation created for annual training may also be in the Employee Record. New Employees (Probationary) Use the Training Detail Sheet to train new employees. They will become familiar with our detail sheet and experience training in every area we clean in a clients' home. Details are on the document itself. Also, include the Cleaning Rotation Chart so they can become familiar with how we track the rotation in a clients' home. Existing Employees Conduct training with each employee annually. Employees are paid for their time, use it to your full advantage. It is your responsibility to schedule & track annual reviews. Other Training Training/learning occurs in many ways. Each week prepare some type of "extra" education for the cleaners. This can be in the form of tabletop education, signs or reminders. Daily Checks This is one of the MOST important tasks at HKU. You are responsible for quality control in each client home. This requires great attention to detail, organization and a methodical and efficient workflow for inspections. Check new employees daily. Any cleaner with HKU for 4 weeks or less should (probationary employee) receive feedback on every home that they clean. Check cleaners with a rating of 4 to 7 at least once per week. An advance announcement of these checks is not necessary. Employees with a rating of 8 - 9 should only be checked when the situation dictates. Announce these checks in advance as a courtesy. These checks usually occur at the request of the cleaner, to obtain information about a house, and/or maintain a relationship with the customers. If a cleaner with a rating of 3 to 5, pairs with a cleaner rated as 8 to 9, only inspect the lower ranked employee. Get feedback from the senior employee in regard to pertinent info for the new employee. When possible, complete checks while the cleaner is in the home to give that cleaner an opportunity to repair a problem and learn from the supervisor. When not possible, notes and pictures are helpful for a review with the cleaner later in the day. Note the details of each check on the Cleaning Supervisor Daily Journal At the conclusion of the probationary period, make a recommendation about retention. Any time during probation, the supervisor can make the recommendation to dismiss the employee. If a client has made a complaint, the supervisor must check the house at the conclusion of the cleaning regardless of the employee rating. Our reputation depends upon us delivering a quality product every time. FOLLOW UP WITH CLIENT REGARDING RESOLUTION. Ratings Each week the cleaning supervisor will meet with the manager to discuss each cleaner's performance. Each quarter assign the cleaner a rating from 1 to 10 (see Rating Description based on conversations with the manager and the information from the Employee Rating Form An annual evaluation is created from this information. The cleaner will receive that evaluation during their annual training/rating (see below). It is important that the manager have this information at hand when determining pay raises, bonuses or corrective action. Employee Record Keeping As the Cleaner Supervisor, you will be in contact with the cleaners and as such are best prepared to maintain employee records. There are two types of employee information kept by the cleaning supervisor. The Employee Record and the Confidential Employee Record (kept in the locked file cabinet).
