MUNICIPAL SERVICES & OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT--PAY RANGE: $18.35 TO $26.23 PER HOUR DOQ--(STARTING SALARY AT ENTRY-LEVEL OF PAY RANGE)--
RESPONSIBILITIESDepending upon the area assigned, this position performs skilled, semi-skilled, technical and/or manual labor work involving equipment/electrical maintenance; process operations of water/wastewater treatment facilities and other utility facilities; and/or installation and repair of water/wastewater lines. Utility Operator activities may include use of computer technology; sampling and laboratory analysis; operation of heavy equipment and vehicles, plant equipment; and maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings, and grounds.--This position may require rotating shift work and emergency response, depending on assignment.--
QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or GED equivalent required.--Training in water/wastewater treatment operations (or equivalent knowledge of biology, chemistry or related field), mechanical systems, building trades, or equipment maintenance preferred.--Although no experience is required, preferred candidate will have one to two years of responsible experience in one of the relevant training areas above as well as a basic knowledge of mathematic principles and computer-controlled systems.--Must possess valid Kansas driver's license; may require Commercial Driver's License depending on assigned work group.--The successful candidate must pass the City background check post-offer City physical and drug screen.--
