Job Description:
Douglas County, KS is accepting applications for the Emergency
911 Communications Officer I. This is a 3-month pool (March 4, 2023
- June 2, 2023), entry level position for multiple career-oriented
individuals.
The Emergency Communication Center (ECC) operates 24 hours a day,
365 days per year. Essential functions of the job include:
gathering, evaluating, prioritizing, and documenting information;
processing calls, including dispatching calls to the appropriate
agencies; maintaining/monitoring radio communications with Police,
Fire, and EMS personnel; upholding confidentiality of information
received; utilizing a multi-screen computer system, two-way radio,
phone system, headset, and foot pedals while receiving/processing
phone calls.
Basic requirements include a high school diploma, G.E.D., and valid
driver's license. Must pass mandatory background investigation,
drug screen and hearing screening. Will be required to comply with
shift work utilizing a Panama-rotating shift including weekends,
holidays, and overtime.
