Job Description
We are seeking a collaborative, highly motivated and self-driven Senior Scientist I/II to join our Biological Sciences drug discovery group. This position will work with the Biological Sciences team to discover new kinase inhibitors for the treatment of cancer.
This position will report to a Senior Principal Investigator and is located in our state-of-the-art research facility near the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.
What You'll Do

  • Responsible for independently developing and validating new molecular biology and cell-based assays needed to understand activities of kinase inhibitors in cancer cells and cells found in the tumor microenvironment
  • Generate transient and stable-transfected cell lines needed to understand activities of kinase inhibitors
  • Perform routine mammalian cell culture
  • Perform routine screening of small molecule kinase inhibitors
  • Collaborate with advisor on managing external pharmacology studies
  • Responsible for analysis of samples from studies performed at CROs
  • Keeps abreast of relevant literature and contributes to the identification and validation of new drug targets
  • Responsible for tracking and recording data into corporate database and notebooks
  • Responsible for effectively working in a team environment, communicating and planning research with others also working on project
  • Acts as a mentor to Junior scientists
  • Responsible for adhering to corporate policies including safety, FDA compliance and regulatory matters
  • Responsible for generating reports and presentations as required by the organization
  • Participate in the preparation of scientific abstracts and manuscripts
  • Perform other research duties when requested
  • Able to independently work in a fast-paced environment

    Qualifications
    • PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field with 2-4 years of research experience. MS with > 8 years of research experience. Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry, particularly in the fields of drug discovery and oncology, preferred
    • Technical skills required: laboratory experience with enzyme, cell biology and immunology techniques
    • Adaptability and capability to work on multiple drug programs simultaneously
    • Other: Computer skills with MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT) and scientific graphing software
