90% - Tutoring Responsibilities
* Assist students by reviewing class materials, answering
questions, providing feedback, and leading students in conversation
practice during online and in-person tutoring sessions. * Work
closely with students on setting and evaluating individualized
performance goals and reporting student progress to the Program
Manager. * Tailor tutoring content to meet the needs of language
learners of varying levels. * Encourage students to expand language
skills independently by exploring personal areas of interest.
10% - Other Project GO Responsibilities:
* Attend and participate in program orientations and scheduled
cultural activities. * Other tasks as assigned.
* Native or near native oral and written communication skills in
Japanese as evidenced in resume, cover letter, or during interview.
* Demonstrated communication skills in English * Experience
tutoring or teaching any academic subject. * During the semester
term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no
fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly
must: have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring
semester or be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less
than 6 hours or be enrolled in summer session or be admitted to
study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be
undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for
GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly
1. Experience in language teaching or in tutoring
English-speaking students in Japanese.
