                        • You must be a recent graduate who has completed, within theprevious two years, an associates, bachelors, masters,professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree orcertificate from a qualifying educational institution such as anaccredited technical or vocational school; a 2- or 4-yearcollege or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g.,law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home schoolcurriculum. Note: Certificate program is defined aspost-secondary education in a qualifying educational institutionequal to at least one academic year of full-time study thatspart of an accredited college-level, technical, trade,vocational, or business school curriculum.
                        • Veterans who were precluded from applying due to their militaryservice obligation begin their 2-year eligibility period uponrelease or discharge from active duty; however, eligibility forthese veterans cannot exceed 6 years from the date on which thedegree or certificate was obtained. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-highschool education and specialized experience may be used to meet thequalification requirements for GS-5. Only progressive education inexcess of the first 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours (i.e.,beyond the first two years) of a course of study is creditabletoward meeting the specialized experience requirement.For GS-06:Applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-6level:A. One year of specialized experience in or directly related to thisposition that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, andabilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Follows accepted practices inresolving nonrecurring problems and meeting deadlines; completedproducts are evaluated for effectiveness in meeting goals; extensiveguidelines in the form of instructions, manuals, and regulations areapplied.**ORB. Applicants may substitute successful completion of 1/2 year ofappropriate graduate level education (9 semester hours, 13.5 quarterhours or the equivalent) in a field of study directly related to thework of this position for the required one year of specializedexperience. Graduate education may be credited only when it isclearly directly related to the work of this position and equippedthe applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to performsuccessfully the duties of this position.**ORC.
